Email Tax?

NY TIMES May 25, 2007 / Props to infowars.com

The era of tax-free e-mail, Internet shopping and broadband connections could end this fall, if recent proposals in the U.S. Congress prove successful. State and local governments this week resumed a push to lobby Congress for far-reaching changes on two different fronts: gaining the ability to impose sales taxes on Net shopping, and being able to levy new monthly taxes on DSL and other Internet-service connections.

One senator is even predicting taxes on e-mail. Pro-tax advocates this week advanced a flurry of proposals pushing in that direction. A bill was introduced that would usher in mandatory sales tax collection for Internet purchases. Then, during a House of Representatives hearing the same day, politicians weighed whether to let a temporary ban on Net access taxes lapse when it expires on November 1. A House backer of another pro-sales tax bill said to expect a final version by July.

Book: God Is Not Great by Christopher Hitchens

Book: God Is Not Great by Christopher Hitchens

Here is the first chapter of the book, “God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything,” by Christopher Hitchens. Enjoy.

Book: God Is Not Great by Christopher HitchensIf the intended reader of this book should want to go beyond disagreement with its author and try to identify the sins and deformities that animated him to write it (and I have certainly noticed that those who publicly affirm charity and compassion and forgiveness are often inclined to take this course), then he or she will not just be quarreling with the unknowable and ineffable creator who-presumably-opted to make me this way. They will be defiling the memory of a good, sincere, simple woman, of stable and decent faith, named Mrs. Jean Watts.

It was Mrs. Watts’s task, when I was a boy of about nine and attending a school on the edge of Dartmoor, in southwestern England, to instruct me in lessons about nature, and also about scripture. She would take me and my fellows on walks, in an especially lovely part of my beautiful country of birth, and teach us to tell the different birds, trees, and plants from one another. The amazing variety to be found in a hedgerow; the wonder of a clutch of eggs found in an intricate nest; the way that if the nettles stung your legs (we had to wear shorts) there would be a soothing dock leaf planted near to hand: all this has stayed in my mind, just like the “gamekeeper’s museum,” where the local peasantry would display the corpses of rats, weasels, and other vermin and predators, presumably supplied by some less kindly deity. If you read John Clare’s imperishable rural poems you will catch the music of what I mean to convey. More >

Immortal Technique in AFRICA

Immortal Technique… – May31st Casablanca, Morocco.

http://www.boulevard.ma/

Northern Africa, Morocco, if you’re there on Thursday May31st I’ll see you out there. I would like to thank the people of that Northern region that have proved themselves to be huge supporters of this Revolutionary movement that began for me so long ago. I remember when I first released Revolutionary Vol.1 before September 11th I would have niggaz I knew even from back in my criminal days question what I was doing. Some brothers supported me and even in that turbulent time rode with me to the death but a few fake fucks used to tell me that I was talented at writing rhymes and should just make more commercial music. That all I should be interested in doing is the same type of music that other people were doing, in order to be successful. They said I should just keep it on that street hardcore style (which I always have), but that I should remove the politics completely. I refused, I challenged all standards, for everyone that spoke to me about the flaws of Communism, even though I was not one, I showed the imperfection and the drastic damage that privatization and globalization had caused my people. “It’s the best system we have invented so far” is the answer of a young person who has not understood the history of political development and the very nature of power consolidation. I had people come to me and say that they loved the music I made and that I was doing the right thing, and then there would be people that would nit pick, saying I should alter these politics, or not use this word or that one. Now there is a secret campaign of propaganda to rewrite Latin America’s history and they even have brainwashed young kids asking me if Che is a murderer then why are people wearing shirts with him on that… Fuck that. I got the Che Guevara Bulletproof Vest so fuck a t-shirt nigga, I know what he symbolizes and I understand people’s imperfections. La Sociedad de Antes from the 50’s that people glamorize in Cuba was a racist quasi apartheid state that served the mafia and the US military like a whorehouse economically, politically and quite in the literal sense.

I am a dreamer because I am a revolutionary. -Filiberto Ojeda Rios

Bush Re-Authorizes Martial Law Provisions

by Paul Joseph Watson, Steve Watson & Alex Jones

Americans have officially been living
under a dictatorship since at least 1933

President George W. Bush has sparked much alarm by openly declaring himself to be a dictator in the event of a national emergency under new provisions that will effectively nullify the U.S. constitution, but such an infrastructure has been in place for over 70 years and this merely represents a re-authorization of the infrastructure of martial law.

New legislation signed on May 9, 2007, declares that in the event of a “catastrophic event”, the President can take total control over the government and the country, bypassing all other levels of government at the state, federal, local, territorial and tribal levels, and thus ensuring total unprecedented dictatorial power.

In other words the new directive excludes Congress
altogether from governance in a state of emergency.

Total Information Awareness, Totally Obscured, Three Years Later

From: Irregular Times – 7/24/2005

Remember the Total Information Awareness scandal of 2002? Remember the over-the-top logo? Remember the so obviously Orwellian “Scientia ist Potentia” (Knowledge is Power) motto? Remember how everybody was so upset because the government would be gathering all sorts of private information about as many citizens as it could, centralizing it in a database, using it to predict which citizens were likely to become an enemy of the state, and then “pre-empting” them before those citizens actually did anything?

Remember? We all were horrified at the prospect. Then the government retreated, abashed at how transparently it had telegraphed its moves with the name of the project, the motto, the logo? Remember how the Bush administration promised to dismantle Total Information Awareness?

What a relief!

Or, not.
