Galloway vs. The US Senate
Oct 29th
George Galloway (Respect MP for Bethnal Green and Bow) delivered this statement to US Senators today who have accused him of corruption. Published Tuesday, May 17, 2005 by the Times Online (UK) Transcript of Statement
I told the world that Iraq, contrary to your claims did not have weapons of mass destruction.
I told the world, contrary to your claims, that Iraq had no connection to al-Qaeda.
I told the world, contrary to your claims, that Iraq had no connection to the atrocity on 9/11 2001.
I told the world, contrary to your claims, that the Iraqi people would resist a British and American invasion of their country and that the fall of Baghdad would not be the beginning of the end, but merely the end of the beginning.
Senator, in everything I said about Iraq, I turned out to be right and you turned out to be wrong and 100,000 people paid with their lives; 1600 of them American soldiers sent to their deaths on a pack of lies; 15,000 of them wounded, many of them disabled forever on a pack of lies.

Senator Paul Wellstone

Paul Wellstone From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

While many citizens believe that Senator Paul Wellstone’s perfectly-timed plane crash was an accident, the evidence suggests it was an assassination instead. The NTSB considered only accident-compatible hypotheses involving the plane, the pilots, and the weather. This lecture systematically considers the available evidence in this case, much of which is not known to the public. He explains why the NTSB’s evidence contradicts its own conclusions and offers reasons why a more thorough and systematic investigation leads to a very different conclusion. When the alternatives of a small bomb, a gas canister, or a directed-energy weapon are taken into account, a more disturbing conception emerges of exactly what happened to the man widely regarded as “the conscience of the Senate.” Wellstone Assassination perfect murder conspiracy plane corruption corporation coleman Fetzer raytheon pharmaceutical

October 17, 2006: The Day America Died and King George was Crowned
Oct 26th
This is quite possibly the most important news report of our generation. On October 17, 2006, President George W. Bush signed the Military Commissions Act of 2006, which does away with Habeas Corpus and makes it perfectly legal for the government to secretly arrest any American citizen, strip him of his citizenship, hold him indefinitely without charges, try him in front of a military tribunal, and execute him in secret. This is sad, sad day for our country. Shame on all of us for letting this happen. With the signing of this act, the President has granted himself the powers of a dictator, courtesy of the U.S. Congress, and the zoned-out couch potato population of America.

Is it Vietnam Yet?

With the mid-term elections looming dangerously close, and with public opinion in opposition to George’s failed foreign policies crossing the two-thirds mark, the White House announced that they are going to present their puppet government of Iraq with a “timetable†for US withdrawal. This reminds me of Richard Nixon’s “secret plan†to remove US troops from Vietnam that he touted in his narrow electoral victory over Hubert Humphrey in 1968.
The US plan for withdrawing from Iraq would include disarming militias and training more Iraqi security forces to take over security of the country—which sounds suspiciously like Nixon’s “Vietnamization†program. With the incipient warmonger Kissinger (we were wondering why Iraq was such an unmitigated disaster?) back in the Oval Office advising George does this smell like a fiasco to anyone else?
Unbelievably, even though my own son was killed in Iraq, I am often told that the US deaths in this young century’s first conflict for profit are “negligible†compared to Vietnam, or a “drop in the bucket.†I have terrible news for these reich-wing carnage confederates: Iraq is even deadlier for US forces than Vietnam. In the first 3 years 7 months of the illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq, 2791 of our volunteer soldiers have been tragically killed and in the first 4 years of the illegal and immoral conflict in Vietnam (which was never a “war†constitutionally declared by Congress either), 1864 conscripts were killed.

Breaking the Silence of the Night

It all begins somewhere, the questioning, the doubting, the feeling that something’s not right; like that day the captain set fire to the Vietnamese woman’s hooch, or the night we shot those women and children by mistake. It’s all got to start somewhere. For them it might have been the innocent civilians killed that day at the checkpoint just north of Baghdad or the dead children lying in the road in Kirkuk, or that night in Nasiriyah when they kicked in the front door of that house, screaming and cursing at the children as they threw their father to the floor, tying his hands behind his back and putting a hood over his head, but you remain silent, you say nothing. You’ve been taught to follow orders, to obey and not question, to go along with the program and do exactly what you’re told. You learned that in boot camp.
You learned that the very first day at Parris Island when the drill instructors started screaming at you. It is “Yes sir†and “No sir,†and nothing in between. There is the physical and verbal abuse, the vicious threats and constant harassment to keep you off balance. It is a powerful conditioning process, a process that began long ago, long before we signed those papers at the recruit stations in our hometowns, a process deeply ingrained in the American culture and psyche, and it has shaped and influenced us from our earliest childhood.
When a cause comes along and you know in your bones that it is just, yet refuse to defend it–at that moment you begin to die. And I have never seen so many corpses walking around talking about justice. -Mumia Abu-Jamal
