Akron, OH Last Night [this is long] by Blueprint
Apr 30th
Ok..its been a while since ive done a show that was this interesting. Hell, i think last nights show might be one of my top 10 show memories ever. But dont get it twisted, this shit wasnt all pretty.
Let me take it from the top:
We’re running late, but get the spot 1 hr before doors for load-in and soundcheck.
We walk in and the first thing we see is chicks walking around with hardly any clothes on…strippers. playing pool. posted up at the bar. We find out this spot, Club Voodoo, that used to be a grimey metal/rock bar, is now a strip club AND that the strip club part of the night will not be put on pause for our show there. To make matters worse these broads were busted. Not even hot, and i swear when i first walked in i thought a couple of them were dudes in drag.
We realize DJ Bombay forgot or lost his mixer. We make calls but cant find one. We are also waiting on a second turntable because one of ours has a short and serato wont recognize it. Another guy who was the house DJ had two turntable and a vestax mixer there already and agreed to let us play on them first. In his words they were there for show since he didnt really use them, and only had a CDJ he used during his boy Mo Mania’s set.
The sound man doesnt show, so we have no monitors (cant hear shit on stage) but we’re told he’ll show up later…he never does.
The next three hours were filled with nothing but Atlanta Strip Club Music without any pause, to the point where it would give you a headache.
They kept pushing shit back, and random muthafuckas would go on stage and “perform”, if you consider performing lipsincing.  Envelope goes on finally after 11:30, and only does about 10 minutes so i know something is fucked up. I was in the car tryin to sleep since the crunk shit was givin me a headache.
At this point, there is a cop @ the back door (what shouldve been the artist entrance, and 3 cops at the front door. They make me walk around front so i can get patted down and come inside.
Strippers were giving lapdances in the backroom right behind our merch table, and to the side of the stage. Thug ass muthafuckas and hoodrat bitches were deep. I mean nothing but white tees and rats, but a few of our fans showed up.
Me and fess get on. Sound on stage is non existent. But there are a few cats in the front that are RIDING for weightless and holding us the fuck down, while the rest of the room was silent. I asked how cats were feeling and didnt hear shit. I start thinking about how to start the set and should I start with no gimmics, and decided that i was gonna do it anyway. I do “no gimmicks” acapella and proceeed to alienate and piss off 95% of the people in the room. Its funny as fuck but like a train wreck at the same time, because cats were talking shit and trying to heckle…but they couldnt take their eyes off us.
Me and fess do another song, then a couple more routines and some rat in the corner is like “what is this? i aint pay 8 dollars for this!”
we’re like “yes you did fuck that.”
this bitch throws some ice at the stage, i tell her that she fucked up because if she didnt like us before i was gonna make sure she and everybody else in there hated me before i got off the stage. and all she was gonna do was gonna make us stay on stage longer. its like chaos at this point because this table of bitches is hatin, but all our people in the front were loud as fuck singing a long to all the shit we were doing, telling them broads to shut the fuck up, and that they didnt know shit. It was great. It was like a battle between good and evil in that muthafucka. I do boombox and the people that came to see me start wilin out singing along to every word. The people who hated me where lookin like who is this dude?
So as we proceed more people who were either madd as fuck or curious started to come to the front of the stage. So we’re like yeah we’re gonna do more shit to really piss yall off…its this shit they used to do back in the day called DJing…so we let bombay get into his routine and muthfuckas HATED it. Me and fess are laughin. Fess is like maybe we should do some shit we got that fits that crowd a little better and i’m like nope, fuck that.
During this time we see this dude walking on the stage looking for mics tryin to get one and we’re looking at this dude like what the hell do you want. He’s looking upset and comes up to us in a low tone and says “yall need to start the show”. I’m like “word? this is the show, this shit is going great”. It was like he was taking us under his wing and showing us some shit about rockin a show that we didnt know…like he was an expert at show rockin. We had been on stage a good 15 minutes. Then this big ass security dude comes to the front of the stage and starts trying to intimidate our people who were wilin out for us, telling them to calm down and standing in between me and them at the front of the stage.
So i do “handmedowns” acapella and piss more black people off. But at the same time, more people were coming to the stage to listen to us as we went on and were agreeing with us even though they had no idea who the fuck we were. Me and fess do one more routine, i say peace, and spike the mic on stage and dip. Then i step off stage, sign some CDs and thank my people for holding me down, then dip immediately. It was only 1230. If it was up to them we would’ve been hittin the stage @ 2am.
We were so happy to get it overwith with we were on the road back to columbus 15 minutes after we got done.
The dude hosting who tried to cut us off takes the stage and him and his dudes start doing some gay ass dance steps, dancing all close to eachother, and we’re like what is this shit? Then some other kids get on stage after us and start lipsincing in there and everybody that was in the front of the stage dips with us.
Shit was great. It was one of those occasions where you understand that its easy to make music that’s safe and doesnt make any kind of statement, or evoke any kind of emotion in people but its hard as hell to do something that makes people feel something…in the words of fess last night. I’d rather piss people off and make them feel something, either love or hate, than have them feel nothing or not even remember us.

Bin Laden Claims West is Waging War on Islam
Apr 30th
There was no mention of new attacks in the audio but rather, bin Laden argued that civilians were a legitimate target for them. “The war is a responsibility shared between the people and the governments. The war goes on and the people are renewing their allegiance to its rulers and masters,” bin Laden said. “They send their sons to armies to fight us and they continue their financial and moral support while our countries are burnt and our houses are bombed and our people are killed.”
In the audio recording, bin Laden also accuses the US of taking advantage of disputes between Sudanese tribes in the western province of Darfur, claiming they are fueling the conflict in order to send in a “crusade army†to seize oil there. He called on militants in the Sudan and the Arabian Peninsula to prepare for battles with western forces. “I call on mujahideen and their supporters in Sudan … and the (Arabian) Peninsula to prepare all that is necessary to wage a long-term war against the Crusaders in western Sudan,” he said.

The Disrupt Instrumentals by Oh No
Apr 28th
Artist: Oh No
Album: The Disrupt Instrumentals
Online Outlet: Access Hip Hop, iTunes, eMusic
Favorite track: Every Section
If you loved “The Disrupt” you’ve got to have the instrumental album as well. Not to at all discredit Oh No & Co.’s emceeing skills, but I’d just like to simply point out how stand-alone the production on this album can be for someone who truly enjoys beats. As an added charm, Oh No includes two instrumentals not on the original album – “Chump” and “Disrupt Massacre” (replacing “Put It All Together”), which before were only included in the first few pressings of the original album. While waiting for “Exodus Into Unheard Rhythms,” Oh No’s new project set to come out later this year in the Summer, I thought I’d bang out the beats to “The Disrupt” for a while. Both J Dilla and Madlib appear on production (Dilla on “Move” & older brother Madlib on various tracks), but let it be known that every single appearance made on this album is purely an added perk – Oh No needs no help blessing a track.

Real Talk With Talib Kweli
Apr 27th
I don’t make music for the fans. I never have, and god willing I never will. Do I have your attention? Are you offended? Do you understand? Lemme explain…. The true music fan respects the artist who is honest with him or herself. The art is the expression..if I’m only expressing things that are of value to you, than I’m not being a true artist. Once I start to do it for the sake of the fans, then I will really fall off and become irrelevant. I will become transparent..instead of the complaint being, “it doesn’t sound like black starâ€, it will be, “he hasn’t grown since black star.†The honest artist will grow and challenge his audience to follow where he is going, and not the other way around. People who love Be shitted on Electric Circus, but they fail to realize Common had to make Electric Circus to get to Be. It is a process that is easy to criticize if you’ve never had to do it. It’s not like Electric was for him and Be was for the audience. They were both made for him. Think about this before you say I’m supposed to make music for the fans. Uhh, no, I’m not. You hear artist who make music for the fans all the time in the media. If someone asks them, why do you only talk about sex violence drugs and jewelry, their stock reply is “I’m making music for the fans, I’m giving people what they want.†You look at some of their sales and think, hey maybe they’re right. Then you come to your senses and be like fuck that! I’m not that dude. I make music for me, and so do my favorite artists.

From the beginning, NAFTA was structured to open borders, permitting the “temporary” entry into the U.S. of just about anyone who wanted to come. Clinton’s NAFTA Implementation Act classified the temporary entrants as non-immigrants and welcomed spouses and children as well. The agreement defined temporary as “entry into the U.S. without the intent to establish permanent residence” and failed to mention that children born to so-called non-immigrants while in this country would, under U.S. law, be accorded automatic citizenship.
If you’re thinking this sounds a lot like President Bush’s guest-worker plan, you’re catching on.
